Let’s do a little test. Ask yourself a question: “Have you ever been disappointed in God?” It’s a simple question, thanks to which one may check relationships of people and God. Personally I answered: “Yes!” As I think, many of you did. There is no right answer here, as we got used to think that every question has the right answer. The most important thing is to answer as it really is. We need to dig deeper instead of searching on the surface.
I didn’t congratulate myself with the answer because it turned out that my relationships with God has become the job description! I was horrified!
God told me that He’s never been disappointed in me and He’ll never be. Immediately I answered: “But how? I’m just human; I’ve made so many wrong things!” But God repeated the same words.
I didn’t believe in what God has said, because I’m used to thinking that everything must have the correct answer. But God told me something which won’t be to the liking of the lawyers: “When people live the right answers they are too far from God, who only knows all the answers on all the questions. People want to be independent of Me. They don’t consult with me, but immediately give the right answer.”
You’ll ask then: “But still, why are our relationships with God called the job description?” Because in it all the duties of the person put on one or another position are spelled. It seems that we put God on the position of God and think that He must do these or those things. But when in one moment God doesn’t do the things which as we think He is obliged to do we’re offended, we shout at Him, don’t believe in Him and don’t believe Him. Although we’ve created the framework in which, seemingly, has to be God.
There is no duty in the relationship. Because God also hasn’t put obligations or rules on us as we often think. Even in the Bible in Romans chapter 13 verse 8 He wrote: “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law” We do not owe anything to God He just wants us to love Him in return because He loves us very much and then the law will be fulfilled. We have to accept the fact that there is no other way we can fulfill the law. We’ll never earn His mercy! You’ll just have to love Him.
Only then our relationships with God and people will become relationships. Love people around you, don’t demand anything from them, don’t demand anything from yourself in order not to disappoint in yourself, but just look on Him. And He’ll wink!
